The Symphonic Band presents its 'Roots' Gala at the Teatro Español

With the participation of saxophonist Estefanía Schanton as soloist, the provincial organization will offer a concert that fuses the academic and the popular. Tickets are free and can be picked up in advance.

The Symphonic Band of La Pampa, part of the Secretariat of Culture of the Government of La Pampa, invited to its next Gala entitled ‘Raíces’. The concert will take place next Friday, May 29 at 9:00 p.m., at the Teatro Español, with free admission.

‘Raíces’ is presented as a Latin American embrace through composers who in their works combine elements of empirical and popular knowledge with academic knowledge, building a network of sounds that accompany everyday life.

The repertoire of the evening proposes a journey that goes from Argentine nationalism to Caribbean rhythms.

At the opening, the musicians will perform ‘Huella’ by Julián Aguirre, a key pianist and initiator of Argentine musical nationalism, recognized for his chamber work.The concert will continue with ‘Malambo’, one of the Two Pampean Scenes by Teodoro Castro, an outstanding composer, arranger and bandoneonist from Córdoba. Then, the saxophonist Estefanía Schanton will perform the saxophone version of the Suite Argentina by Víctor Scavuzzo, a work that captures with balance and mastery airs of zamba, chacarera, milonga and malambo.

At the end of the evening and as a hinge, the program will open to the continental panorama with ‘Conga del Fuego Nuevo’ by Arturo Márquez and ‘Pegaso’, music from the Colombian Caribbean composed by Victoriano Valencia Rincón.

Tickets can be picked up in advance starting today, Tuesday, May 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the box office of the Teatro Español (Hilario Lagos 44).
