'The received fervors', a new audiovisual proposal at MPartes

In the sixth edition of “La Pieza Rosa,” the artist Gabriel González Carreño inaugurates an interactive installation that transforms the film archive into a sensitive machinery. The opening will feature a musical contribution from the band Salitre Club.

The Secretariat of Culture, through the Provincial Museum of Arts (MPArtes), invited to the inauguration of the sixth installment of “La Pieza Rosa.” The event will take place next Saturday, May 2nd, at 8:00 PM, where the exhibition “Los fervores recibidos” by audiovisual artist Gabriel González Carreño will be presented.

Under the curatorship of Lis Cofré and Lihué Pumilla, the exhibition proposes an immersion in expanded cinema. It is a multimedia installation that uses synchronized analog projection devices to intervene in space through what the author calls an “archaeology of affects.”

The work breaks with passive contemplation. Through motion sensors, the presence of the audience activates or alters the rhythm of the cinematic loops, creating a constant flow of repetition and decay.

“It is not a static exhibition, but a sensitive machinery where the mechanical blinking and the infinite loop of recovered material transform the archive into a physical experience,” explained González Carreño.

Gabriel González Carreño is a benchmark in audiovisual experimentation. His practice is based on technological “scavenging” and the recovery of materials from auctions and pawn shops. With a career recognized by institutions such as the Andreani Foundation and the National Fund for the Arts, Carreño has managed to combine documentary film with digital interactivity. He recently served as a juror in the 2026 edition of the Proyector Festival, where he participated with his work “73 centuries.” He currently works in artistic creation, cultural management, and the preservation of audiovisual archives.
