The La Pampa’s government has reported new attempts at telephone scams by individuals claiming to be from the La Pampa Secretariat of Energy and Mining (SEyM), some even using the Strategic Energy Plan logo in their WhatsApp profiles, to solicit personal information and data in order to carry out fraudulent activities. This scam was reported last week, but the criminals continue to make calls from the same number.
In recent hours - the APN stated -, that new reports have been received from residents of various towns in La Pampa province, stating that they have received calls and WhatsApp messages from individuals impersonating staff members of the Secretariat, requesting information for a supposed registration of energy and mining companies.
In response to this fraudulent scheme, which was reported several days ago, the Provincial Secretariat of Energy and Mining has stated that it does NOT conduct such actions to request personal data. Therefore, it urges the entire community not to share any information or enter any personal codes in response to these types of calls and messages.
These new scam attempts have been carried out using the same phone number as in previous instances.
