Santa Rosa: Student day education for peace and school coexistence

In San Martín Square in the capital of La Pampa, an inter-institutional event called “Let’s Go Viral for Peace” was held, through which non-violence and good values were promoted in educational institutions. The activity took place in two shifts, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

It was an initiative of the “C. J. Andrada” Normal School and Primary School No. 256, in which neighbors, families from the neighborhood, social organizations, and government areas were also present. In this regard, there was the support of the Provincial Government, through the Ministry of Education, and the Municipality of Santa Rosa.

“Congratulations to those who organized and joined this call. A while ago they asked me, why do we have to make the obvious go viral? Because sometimes the obvious has to be made explicit. The school knows about affection and care. Enjoy, multiply, and pass on this day, the school is a territory of peace,” said the Minister of Education, Marcela Feuerschvenger.

Timoteo, a student from School No. 6, told that “there are challenges on social media that are taken as a joke but are not, because they cause fear or harm. You don’t have to do everything we see on social media, like the school threat challenge.”

Following the events related to “viral challenges” in educational institutions, schools in La Pampa took decisions in a contextualized manner and based on school coexistence agreements. Particularly at the Secondary Level, as established by its Academic Regulations, restorative practices were applied, deepening dialogue and reflection.

In “Let’s Viralize Peace,” various school projects were exhibited through stands, musical performances were held, among other youth expressions that demonstrate a commitment to a school with peace, affection, dialogue, and coexistence, showing that the only challenge worth viralizing is empathy.
