La Pampa celebrates at the International Book Fair alongside Popular Libraries

Under the title “Where the community reads and the future is written,” La Pampa will present a panel led by provincial authorities and representatives of Popular Libraries from different towns.

The official Day of La Pampa event at the 50th Buenos Aires International Book Fair, which will take place next Saturday, May 9th at 2:30 PM, in the Horacio González Room of the Ocre Pavilion (La Rural Exhibition Center).

The activity will consist of a dialogue and exchange panel titled “Popular Libraries: where the community reads and the future is written.” With the participation of the Minister of Education, Marcela Feuerschvenger, and the Secretary of Culture, Pablo Lucero Álvarez, who will dialogue with librarians and leaders who sustain these institutions in various parts of the provincial territory.

The panel will attempt to reflect the geographical and social diversity of the Popular Libraries of La Pampa through the narratives of experiences and exchange of experiences that Diana Sales from BP “Edgar Morisoli” (Santa Rosa); Marcos Mareque from BP “Modesto Caretto” (La Maruja); Silvia Gómez from BP “Domingo Faustino Sarmiento” (Maisonnave); María Isabel Blanco from BP “Walter Cazenave” (Cuchillo Có) and Lorena Scholl from BP “José Barbero” (Colonia Santa Teresa) will share.

“Defending and strengthening popular libraries is also defending an idea of the country: one in which culture, knowledge, and words circulate freely and where each community has the right to read itself, think itself, and write its own history. Because where the community reads, the future begins to be written,” stated the Popular Libraries area of the Secretariat of Culture.

  • 6 PM: Presentation of the book “El pozo” by its author Patricia Lobos and the Ediciones Piloto de Tormenta team.

  • Saturday, May 9:

  • 2:30 PM: La Pampa Day. “Popular Libraries: where the community reads and the future is written.” Horacio González Hall* of the Ochre Pavilion.

  • 5 PM: Presentation of the book “The Pampas Valleys. Myths and Realities for a Unique Geography,” by Betty Dillon.

  • 6 PM: Presentation of the book “Seremos río” by Ana María Zorzi, with verses by Ariel Hugo Vázquez.

  • 8 PM: Presentation of the book “La Cruz del Sur” by Miguel Iribarne, by the Voces publishing house of the Santa Rosa Popular Electricity Cooperative.

  • Sunday, May 10:

  • 3:00 PM: Presentation of the book “Epecuén: in the memory of the ruins” by Patricia Bonjour.

  • 4 PM: Presentation of the book “Crónicas Ranquelinas” by José Depetris and Walter Cazenave.

  • 5 PM: Presentation of the book “Faces of the Earth” by José Depetris and Pedro Vigne.

  • Monday, May 11:

  • 7 PM: Presentation of the book “Crying Dry” by Veró Mac Lennan.
