The demonstration took place during an extraordinary meeting convened by the Minister of Production of La Pampa, Fernanda González and which was attended by the Undersecretary of Agrarian Affairs, Ricardo Baraldi, the Director of Livestock, Marcelo Lluch, representatives of the 24 Animal Health Foundations, national organizations such as INTA, rural entities -CARBAP, CONINAGRO, Argentine Rural Society and Argentine Agrarian Federation-, in addition to the Veterinary Medical College and the UNLPAM’s Faculty of Veterinary Sciences.
González told to the Provincial News Agency that the meeting aimed to “generate a space for exchange and analysis in relation to the regulations, surveying the opinions of all the actors involved and highlighting the health status achieved.” In this sense, she stressed the key role of health entities, made up of producers, both in the execution of vaccination campaigns and in their territorial function.
The minister stressed that “the majority coincidences around the need to safeguard the current system, especially through health entities, which have historically guaranteed the correct application of the campaigns throughout the provincial territory.”
Meanwhile, Baraldi warned that the measure “presents difficulties in reflecting the particularities of the productive interior, regional economies and the specific functioning of health entities,” and underscored the sustained investment made by producers to achieve the current sanitary status.
In the meeting the participants agreed that the current system is the result of more than 25 years of articulated work between the public and private sectors, which made it possible to achieve health achievements of international relevance, such as the absence of viral circulation for more than 15 years and the recognition of the Argentine Republic as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease in accordance with the standards of the World Organization for Animal Health.
