At the ‘Clemente J. Andrada’ Popular Library, the interministerial initiative aimed at promoting reading at all educational levels was presented.
The launch was in charge of the Minister of Education,Marcela Feuerschvenger, together with the Secretary of Culture,Pablo Lucero.‘For more Reading’ is part of the Provincial Literacy Plan*. The plan promotes that every day people read and write in La Pampa’s classrooms to guarantee access to written culture.
From Education was specified that the goal is that, in this reading path, from Kindergarten to Secondary, at least ten titles are read per room, grade or year. In this way, it is expected that each student will have achieved a reading experience of 150 titles by the end of secondary education. It is noteworthy that those institutions that already meet this objective exceed it, while those that are in the process of joining this projection of readings.
As reading does not only occur in the classroom, the Secretariat of Culture, through popular libraries, joins the Reading Plan and will hold meetings and activities with schools to build new reading opportunities that are part of the daily lives of more and more people.
Feuerschvenger said the plan’s launch expands educational rights. “Reading is present in schools, this action is a direct articulation: the popular library goes to school and the school goes to the popular library. Families should not teach reading, that is our task. But it is necessary to accompany children and adolescents in this process. In the institutional conference next Tuesday, April 14, in which all levels and modalities of the Pampas educational system will participate, the Reading Plan will be addressed, among other issues.
Meanwhile, Lucero said that **popular libraries are present in 75% of the provincial territory and cover a significant percentage of the budget of the Secretariat of Culture.“We are very happy to have achieved and consolidated this initiative, we hope that each year will be successful and we will have a good result. For us, popular libraries are public policy of excellence, at no time do we stop accompanying and supporting. We know that the National Commission of Popular Libraries (CONABIP) is not at its best, it is one of the organizations most affected by the policies of the National Government.”
After the official presentation by the provincial authorities, a proposal for a cultural experience with reading was carried out for 1st grade students of the Normal Elementary School No. 256.
