La Pampa: The MPHN invites to the workshop “Museums as cultural artifacts”

Through two face-to-face meetings, the Provincial Museum of Natural History (MPHN) proposes a space for training and experimentation to transform the passive view of the collections into a critical and pedagogical experience. The activity is free and requires prior registration.

The MPHN, in a joint work with the Provincial Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the Coordination of Museums, opens the call for the exchange and training days: ‘Practices to use the museum as a cultural artifact.’ The proposal, which will take place on Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12, is specifically aimed at teachers, workshop leaders, mediators, tourism professionals and museum workers.

The activity proposes a collective practice to inhabit, think and use the museum as a cultural, pedagogical and political artifact. For two face-to-face days, the exhibition halls will be transformed into spaces for experimentation and work, promoting the exchange of knowledge and reflection on how the senses are constructed within the museum.

The workshop is free of charge and invites us to transform ‘passive gazing’ into an active experience of occupation and questioning of the museum, understanding the objects in the collection as critical triggers that enable new readings, questions and forms of mediation.

The proposal seeks to enrich both educational and museum practices, generating a space for meeting and collective production of thought.

Experimentation and critical reflection

Under the facilitation of Daniela Rodi -museologist, Visual Arts teacher and specialist in cultural management-, the participants will work on the objects in the collection to turn them into critical triggers. The dynamic seeks to generate new readings and forms of mediation, enriching current educational and museum practices.

Modality
#

The sessions will take place at the headquarters of the MPHN (Quintana 116, Santa Rosa) at the following times: Wednesday, March 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, March 12, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. As part of the work methodology, attendees are asked to attend with a personal object to integrate into the collective dynamics.
