Tourism #
The Secretary of Tourism, Saúl Echeveste, highlighted that “the Route of the Descendants of Volga Germans is a very important route and we are going to make it effective tomorrow in Alpachiri, one of the six localities that make up the route, along with Colonia Santa Teresa, Colonia Santa María, Perú, Guatraché and Jacinto Arauz. In addition, we are working with other provinces such as Buenos Aires in which we will be able to exchange information and be able to broaden this Route. It is a very important corridor in the south of the province of La Pampa, which speaks of the origins of the tradition, idiosyncrasy of that community. For us, in terms of tourism, it is very important because it generates an important economic circuit in the locality and it is one more tourist destination to visit within our Province,”* concluded.
Culture #
The Secretary of Culture, Pablo Lucero, thanked Rubén Muller, the entire commission, and “all those who work together for this collective effort and manage to rescue this identity, the symbolic, and also what is the economic circuit that are our communities. It is very important for everything that is the intangible cultural heritage and all its knowledge, good practices, and why not also, for example, gastronomy and the whole universe of good drink, as a practice that is associated with the Volga Germans, which is so important to them,” he continued. “This Route is so important in the province of La Pampa, with so much individual value that the localities have, but this collective proposal seems to me that it is something that we have to continue deepening, recognizing, promoting, and from the Secretariat of Culture we will always be at the rescue of all this intangible cultural heritage that we are so interested in valuing,” he concluded.
Initiatives #
Rubén Muller, former mayor of Alpachiri and member of the Volga German community, stated that “for us, as descendants of Volga Germans, it is very important that all this work being done on the gastronomic route and the cultural route of the Volga Germans is revalued. I say important because this whole movement started almost 50 years ago, which will be fulfilled in 2027. One feels a nostalgia for the pioneers and founders who took this initiative to make known the descent of the Volga Germans, because although we were in Russia for many years, we also later came from there to this country and were welcomed and given all the opportunities to work. We happened to be in this Province and as Saúl (Echeveste) said, in the province of Buenos Aires, Colonia Hinojo is taken as the mother colony Coronel Suárez and in turn all the colonies. Highlighting the recognition of this Route to us, as descendants of Volga Germans, makes us very proud,” he concluded.
