The Symphonic Band of the Province of La Pampa invited the community to enjoy a new musical evening under the cycle “La Pampa Sinfónica”. The concert entitled ‘New Music for Our Land’ will take place next Friday, November 28 at 9:00 p.m., at the Teatro Español (H. Lagos 44) in the city of Santa Rosa. Up to two tickets per person can be picked up at the theater’s box office, until seats are sold out.
This presentation has a special character, since it highlights the musicians that make up the organization, presenting works by directors and composers of the band itself, in addition to having the participation of the guest composer Viviana Dal Santo. The night promises a diverse emotional journey, from Greek mythology and exotic landscapes, to the symphonic fusion of the quartet and the folklore of Cuyo and La Pampa.

-
Pacific Dreams, by Jacob de Haan and directed by Cristian Curti, the piece tells the story of Miguel, a Spanish composer in Sydney who, upon discovering a painting entitled ‘Sueños del Pacífico’, connects with memories of Japan and the Asian influence of the city. Structured in four movements, the work is an emotional journey that reflects on longing, the surprising moments of life and the constant search for happiness.
-
Travesía (Chimera), by composer Damián Gigena. This piece portrays the ferocity of the Chimera – inspired by the beast of Greek mythology, daughter of the monsters Typhon and Echidna with parts of a lion, goat and snake – and its battle against Bellerophon. The music seeks to represent the tension of the confrontation and the epic moment in which the hero, with the help of Pegasus and a lead spear, manages to defeat the monster that terrorized entire cities.
-
Iubilare (Premiere). Composition and Direction: Guillermo Schiavi Gon. Defined as a ‘symphonic instrumental quartet’, this work redefines the boundaries between popular and academic music. He takes the rhythmic energy of the Cordovan quartet and subjects it to a rigorous orchestral treatment. The work is dedicated to the retirement of maestro Hugo Díaz, a reference of the Band, playing with the etymology of ‘Iubilare’ (jubilation/joy). In addition, it has a visual identity inspired by the surrealism of René Magritte, reflecting the multiple sound layers of the piece.
-
Concert of Pampa and Cuyo (Premiere). Guest composer: Viviana Dal Santo. Soloist: Camilo Sánchez (clarinet). Director: Manuel Gerez. A composition that unites the landscapes and ways of living of Mendoza and La Pampa. Structured in three movements (1. In the time of Cueca, 2. Nostalgia, 3. Gato de Pampa y Cuyo), the work incorporates solo clarinet, piano and synthesizer. The central movement is a hymn to the solitude of the western Pampas, while the closing celebrates the dance that unites both regions.
