Digging on curiosity and science.

Agrotour 2025 consists of a technical tour that brings together leaders in the sector, in order to evaluate the performance of winter crops, in the southwest of Buenos Aires and the Pampas region.

The Ministry of Production of La Pampa, through the Directorate of Agriculture, participated in the traditional Agrotour organized by the Bahía Blanca Grain and Products Exchange, a technical tour that every year brings together specialists, producers and leaders of the sector to evaluate the performance of winter crops, such as wheat and barley, in the southwest of Buenos Aires and the Pampean region.

The provincial team presented the preliminary yield estimates for wheat and barley, prepared from its own surveys and the information integrated in the Pampean Circuit. In addition, the tour made it possible to verify in the field the significant impact of late frosts, a factor that altered the initial expectations of the campaign.

The Pampean Circuit included sampling in fields in La Pampa and the south of Buenos Aires, which provides a broad vision but also raises the regional averages due to the better productive conditions of the Buenos Aires territory. The initial results presented were: wheat: 2,550 kg/ha and barley: 3,700 kg/ha.

The La Pampa’s director of Agriculture, Natalia Ovando, explained to the Provincial News Agency that these values “must be interpreted in a regional context and with the caution that the information is an average of environments with different productive potentials.”

Regarding the provincial reality, the official indicated that the preliminary yields for wheat are within the usual ranges for campaigns of medium behavior, with values that ranged between 1,800 and 2,100 kg/ha. However, Ovando warned that the frost recorded during the critical period “caused variable damage depending on the phenological state and location of the lot, generating a reduction in yield potential and it is estimated that protein quality in several productive areas will be affected.”

The Ministry highlighted the importance of actively participating in the Agrotour and in regional monitoring instances, in this sense the deputy director of Agriculture, Sergio Baudracco, stated that “the tour allowed us to validate estimates and also recognize the real impact of the frost, an event that changed the productive scenario. Having early and accurate information is essential to anticipate decisions, plan the campaign and accompany producers more effectively.”

Finally, the APN said that the Ministry of Production will continue to update the estimates as the harvest progresses and consolidated information becomes available.
