The provincial director of Epidemiology,** Ana Bertone**, explained to the Provincial News Agency that whooping cough is “a respiratory infection transmitted through the air, and its onset is often confused with a common cold due to its symptoms (mild fever and nasal congestion), but it evolves into intense coughing fits that can hinder feeding, cause vomiting, and, in severe cases, compromise respiratory function.”
