Promoted by La Pampa’s Ministry of Health with the accompaniment of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Rights, the contest was thought of as a strategic action to sensitize the importance of incorporating healthy habits from childhood.
The initiative, organized by the Undersecretariat of Social and Community Health together with the Undersecretariat of Sports, was aimed at sixth grade of public primary schools in the city of Santa Rosa.
Since its launch on May 31, the “Breath Vida” contest in which an educational and creative tour was proposed that involved girls and boys in reflection on smoking, care of the body and the environment. During this period the participating schools developed artistic productions that were presented and voted by the community, culminating in a closing day where the most outstanding works were recognized.
Asked about this activity by the Provincial News Agency (APN), the Undersecretary of Social and Community Health, Cintia Zalabardo, said: “Participation exceeded all expectations and 32 educational institutions joined with different artistic productions that included graphic pieces from posters, brochures, paintings and cornfields, all focused on the theme of smoking and its consequences. What moved us most was the process that the students lived. For two months they investigated, interviewed people, reflected on the role of the passive smoker and appropriated the message. They not only understood the effects of tobacco on health, but also how it impacts the environment and the quality of life of the entire community.”
“Through art -she added-, girls and boys not only incorporated other knowledge, but that allows them to transform into multiplier agents of positive messages for health care from a very early age. They took their families and close environments and close ideas about body care, healthy eating, physical activity, medical controls and the importance of living in free spaces of smoke, all these actions in favor of building the best state to the community".
Sensitize #
“From the Undersecretariat we work hard with specific health dates as opportunities to collectively build the concept of health we want. This contest was a clear sample of how art, creativity and ingenuity; they can be a powerful tools to educate, transform and generate awareness. Which also now also implies a challenge for the Undersecretariat team because they liked the proposal and asked to be done with other themes that are of other themes that are of other themes that are made with other themes that are made with other themes.”, she added.
“The most valuable thing is that they built the message themselves. We only proposed the framework. It was the girls and boys who, with curiosity and commitment, researched, asked questions, created, and shared. Today they have in their hands a powerful tool: the knowledge built collectively and put into words to replicate it. And with it, they can inspire others to choose a healthier life,” said the undersecretary.
Voting and winners: #
The selection of the winning works was determined through a voting process on the official Instagram account, @LaSubse. This approach was designed to encourage the positive utilization of social media platforms, fostering active community engagement in expressing ideas, participating in civic matters, and collaboratively shaping healthy messages.
This method aimed to harness the power of social media not just for communication, but as a dynamic tool for citizen involvement and the collective construction of impactful, health-oriented content. By opening the voting to the entire community, it ensured a broad and inclusive selection process, highlighting the public’s voice in choosing messages that resonate with them.
