The booklet “Bestiario de Don Juan” by the pseudonym Valentine Charpentier will be discussed. Charpentier was one of the many identities that Olga Orozco used in her writings for the Revista Claudia magazine between 1963 and 1974. Through reading and artistic construction, a visual and textual bestiary will be created, exploring the character and techniques that define the “Don Juanes”.
The reading series “The Possibilities of the Self” seeks to rediscover Orozco’s journalistic side, who, under eight different pseudonyms, addressed a wide variety of topics. From the love advice column with Valeria Guzmán to the literary criticism of Martín Yanez, passing through the esoteric articles of Richard Reiner and the social life of Elena Prado. And even the unfortunate Jorge Videla (she herself was surprised by the choice of that name) for some articles on tango and other topics considered “masculine.”
This meeting represents an opportunity to explore Orozco’s work from a different perspective, as the poet demonstrates great versatility in these texts compiled by La Ballesta Magnifica Publishing House in the Pie de Espuma collection.
The activity is supported by the Ministry of Culture of La Pampa Government and Toay’s Municipality.
