With the participation of more than 100 companies and entrepreneurs, Governor Sergio Ziliotto presented the “Destino Vaca Muerta” program, a strategic tool for La Pampa’s companies to connect with new business opportunities in Neuquén. The initiative seeks to consolidate the province’s productive profile and strengthen the regional integration.
Yesterday Governor Sergio Ziliotto led the official opening of the “Destino Vaca Muerta” program, a commercial development and business networking tool designed to support companies and entrepreneurs from La Pampa interested in expanding into new markets. The event brought together more than 100 companies from across the province, as well as provincial authorities, representatives of business chambers, and leaders from the productive sector.
In his intervention the governor praised the high turnout as a demonstration of the commitment of La Pampa’s business community to work, production, and the creation of genuine employment. “Today, we see more than 100 companies and entepreneurs from La Pampa interested in something that seems a rarity in today’s Argentina: producing more, selling more, and creating more jobs. I want to thank you not only for being here, but also for your continued commitment to production and work as the sole development model for the province of La Pampa and the Argentine Republic,” he said.
In another section of his speech, the Governor alluded to the current economic conditions: “We know that today is not easy. If you had nothing more than a matter of analyzing an Excel spreadsheet and looking at where the profit is, you surely wouldn’t be producing,” he stated.
The program was designed by the Government of La Pampa as a public policy to promote strategic alliances, facilitate access to new marketing channels, and expand the logistics networks of local companies, especially in relation to the energy development of Vaca Muerta, in the province of Neuquén. Furthermore, it aims to consolidate the La Pampa Business Center in that province and strengthen the positioning of the Patagonian region as a productive conjunction with its own identity.
Ziliotto stated that “Vaca Muerta exceeds Neuquén, exceeds Patagonia, exceeds the market for the industries in the region. Therefore, as a Province, we want to bring the strength, capacity, and seriousness of the La Pampa business community, betting on production even in difficult times. You will always have us by your side.”
He also highlighted the role of the provincial government: “Today, it’s not profitable to produce in Argentina, which is why we appreciate and maintain the position the government is pursuing. This framework, this expectation, tells us we’re on the right path. We’ve done a lot, but there’s still more to do. The government must become increasingly efficient and more austere,” he said.
“A government seeking development shouldn’t have as its objective that companies pay taxes, but rather pay wages. It’s a way to generate growth with inclusion, which is development that generates jobs,” he stated. And defended the La Pampa Government tax structure: “It’s no coincidence that financial intermediation is taxed at 9.1% and industry at zero. It’s no coincidence that we reward with tax incentives those who invest the most and generate jobs. In many cases, we will have to improve our responses; we will surely do so through economic expansion.”
One more, Ziliotto warned about the negative effects of the current economic model nationwide: “In the last constitutional period, we generated 6,000 new registered private jobs. We’ve lost a third in a year and a half, and it’s not getting any better. We are clearly heading towards a scenario of job insecurity, which is nothing more and nothing less than a precarious economy,” he explained.
“The only way to lower taxes is by combating informality. The State is providing greater responses in health, education, security, and public works, but it never occurred to us to increase the tax burden on production. The last thing that occurred to us was to transfer this loss of resources to the level of public services. But even less so was adding a tax burden to production.”, the Governor said.
The event featured technical presentations by specialists and consultants, successful business experiences of La Pampa firms in extra-provincial markets, and the presentation of the support plan for commercial integration in Neuquén. There were present the Minister of Production, Fernanda González; the Executive Director of ICOMEX La Pampa, Sebastián Lastiri; the Secretary of Labor and Employment Promotion, Marcelo Pedehontaá; and the president of Banco de La Pampa, Alexis Iviglia, among other authorities.
