The press conference was attended by provincial authorities, organizers, and leading figures from the audiovisual world.
La Pampa’s Secretary of Culture, Pablo Lucero, highlighted the importance of the collaborative work between the public and private sectors and celebrated the festival as an opportunity to highlight the regional audiovisual circuit. He also announced the launch of LAB Pampa, a space designed to finalize unfinished audiovisual projects and an educational laboratory that accompanies participants from the initial idea to the final production.
Saúl Echeveste, La Pampa’s Secretary of Tourism, congratulated the organizers for sustaining this initiative in a complex context. “For seven days, a great economic movement will be generated in the northern part of the province,” he stated, and announced the presence of an institutional booth to promote the province’s tourist attractions.
José Luis Angelucci, festival director, recalled the event’s beginnings and celebrated this year’s record of more than 350 entries, from which more than 50 films were selected to be screened throughout the week. “It’s a festival that doesn’t aim to be a box-office hit, but rather distinct, with its own identity and the pride of being made in La Pampa. We are grateful to the entire La Pampa government, whose support makes this possible,” he said.
From an educational perspective, Sonia Ziliotto spoke about the “cinema hotbed,” a space that promotes the participation of primary and secondary schools in the creation of short films, which will be shown to the general public. The presence of international exhibits and tickets for a symbolic price of one thousand pesos were also confirmed.
Finally, Ana Contreras highlighted the festival’s regional focus, which since its inception has sought to be a space for meeting and exchanging knowledge. This year, the theme of artificial intelligence is incorporated as part of the debates and proposals.
With a program that includes feature films and short films from La Pampa and the country, and with a strong commitment to training, student participation, and the visibility of local talent, General Pico is preparing for a new edition of a growing and exciting festival.
